Port City Volunteers links individuals with local non-profit agencies and organizations in need of volunteer support. The popular program creates opportunities for individuals to give back to their community, learn important life skills, and gain exposure to a variety of organizations.

From selling flowers at festivals to grooming dogs at the local animal shelter, Port City Volunteers enjoy new experiences and perform valuable community services through twice weekly small group (2 – 6 people) outings to these and other organizations:

  • The Oregon Humane Society
  • The Pixie Project
  • Store to Door
  • Meal on Wheels
  • Laurelhurst Park Clean-Up
  • Oregon Food Bank Learning Garden
  • Belmont Firehouse Museum
  • Easter Seals Bloomfest
  • Valentine Cards for seniors

The program is participant driven: individuals identify their area of interest and Port City staff cultivates volunteer opportunities that match interest with need. Participants are provided on-site training and orientation. Longer-term internships are sought for those seeking employment with a particular organization.

A shared goal between Port City’s volunteer and Job Development programs is to weave activities common to both, such as conducting skills inventories and writing resumes.

If you are a business owner or local non-profit interested in connecting with hardworking and enthusiastic volunteers, please contact us today. We value our community partnerships!
